Wilkinson 3 Shots Behind Leader After Opening Day in Ohio

Kiwi Tim Wilkinson shot a 4-under 68 to finish just 3 shots behind the leader after the opening day of the Workday Charity Open in Dublin Ohio.

Wilkinson hit 12 of 18 greens in regulation and finished his day tied for 7th at 4 under; Collin Morikawa is in 1st at 7 under; Adam Hadwin is in 2nd at 6 under; and Hideki Matsuyama, Nick Taylor, Aaron Wise, and Zach Johnson are tied for 3rd at 5 under.

The Florida resident set the course alight on the front nine with 4 birdies in the first seven holes.

Following bogeys at 9 and another at 16, he grabbed birdies at 14 and 17 to keep his early score.

After a drive to the right side of the fairway on the 478-yard par-4 17th hole, Wilkinson chipped in his third, carding a birdie for the hole. This moved Wilkinson to 4 under for the round.

Collin Morikawa opened with 7-under 65 for his second first-round lead on the PGA Tour. The 23-year-old has one PGA Tour win to his name the 2019 Barracuda Championship and is one of four players to rank inside the top 3 after the opening round three or more times this season.

Fellow Kiwi Danny Lee managed a 4-over 76 in the opening round and under threat of being cut tomorrow.
